Mr. Abplanalp has practiced law in Colorado for more than forty-five years, emphasizing his relationship with clients in Larimer County (Fort Collins) and North Park (Jackson County) since 2006. Mr. Abplanalp also has maintained a practice serving clients in the Vail Valley since 1981. Mr. Abplanalp has represented private, business and governmental entities throughout the Vail Valley, as well as across the United States and the world. During this period of time, Mr. Abplanalp has focused on real estate, estate planning, probate and business law, and his practice continues to emphasize those areas of law.

Mr. Abplanalp was educated at the Perkiomen School in Pennsburg, Pennsylvania; at Davidson College (B.A. Political Science in 1968) and the Duke University School of Law (J.D., 1971). He served as a law clerk for the Colorado Court of Appeals before and following his admission to the Colorado Bar in 1971 and served as Jackson County Attorney and Deputy District Attorney for the Eighth Judicial District (Jackson and Larimer Counties) from 1972 through 1978. Mr. Abplanalp was appointed Garfield County Attorney in 1979 and served in that capacity until 1981, when he began his practice in Vail. From 1981 through the present, Mr. Abplanalp has practiced in the Vail area, and, more recently in Larimer County and North Park.

Mr. Abplanalp's professional activities have included membership in the Colorado Bar Association since 1971, service as President of the Northwestern Colorado Bar Association, as regional Vice-President of the Colorado Bar Association, as a member of the Board of Governors of the Colorado Bar Association, and more than ten years on the Ethics Committee of the Colorado Bar Association. His current activities include membership in the Larimer County Bar Association. He also served as President of the Bonner Peak Landowner's Association in northwestern Larimer County for eight years and has served on the board of directors of multiple homeowner and non-profit entities.
